Kate Lally, MA Life coach & Therapist

Your story is safe with me.

A holistic and trauma-informed approach

“When you’re not sharing your story, you’re carrying your story.” - Kate Lally, LMHC

Not all trauma is life-altering, but it can still prevent us from seeing ourselves clearly. Many of my clients are high-functioning adults that do well in many areas of life, but still feel stuck in others.

As a result of life experiences, survival modes are created and defense mechanisms develop. In an attempt to protect ourselves, we learn to guard off our hearts in order to avoid feeling vulnerable, but in this protective stance, we are unable to receive the love, support and connection that we truly desire.

In order to open up again, we must do the work to create safety within ourselves. It starts with sharing your story with a safe and compassionate person and allowing your raw, messy and vulnerable self to be witnessed. Then, using a holistic and trauma-informed lens, I will help you identify how your past affected you, as we identify the old underlying story that keeps playing out.

It is never too late to show up for yourself. Saying yes to support is an empowered choice and one of the best gifts that you can give yourself and those who love you.

How I work

Therapy with me isn’t just talking about the past.

It’s about creating a new story for yourself, where you get to be the creator of your life.

We’ll start with a brief history of your life and relationships before getting into the nitty gritty of why you are here. Next, we’ll identify your goals for therapy. I offer you insights, reflections and strategies to help you step into a new, more empowered version of yourself.

Tenets of my Beliefs

As a holistic and trauma-informed therapist, it’s important that our beliefs are aligned before we start working together.

Growth

I believe that no matter your diagnosis, a higher-functioning version of you is available. I believe that we are all doing the best we can, and we can do better. With habits, tools and lifestyle changes, most symptoms can and will decrease.

Compassion

I hold deep empathy and compassion for my clients. Life can be difficult and you deserve an empathic witness to your story. All of your feelings are welcome here; the good, the bad and the ugly.

Truth

I know that feedback is necessary for growth. If I sense that there is something that you are not yet willing to see that is holding you back, I will ask permission before challenging you. I am committed to your sense of safety in our sessions, while also committed to your growth.

Safety

I am committed to creating a safe and shame-free space in our sessions, as I know that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor that contributes to your success. I view our work as a partnership and value your feedback and input.
